Our obligations under Australian law
The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) generally apply to organisations with an annual turnover above $3 million. As a small business, Your Vision Carpentry may fall below that threshold and not be legally bound by the Act.
We have written this policy to follow the Australian Privacy Principles regardless. We think you should know what happens to your information whether or not the law compels us to tell you.
What we collect
Information you give us
When you use the enquiry form on our contact page, or contact us by phone, SMS or email, we collect what you choose to send us. On the form, that is:
- Name and phone number — required, so we can respond to you
- Email address — optional
- Suburb — optional, so we know whether the job is in our service area
- Service type and job description — optional, so we can give you a useful answer rather than a generic one
We ask for what we need to quote a job and nothing more. We do not ask for, and this website never collects, payment card details, bank details or government identifiers.
Information collected automatically
This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information needed to deliver the site and protect it from attack — including your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This happens for every visitor and is not something we can switch off.
We also use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful, but only if you accept it. See our cookie policy for the detail. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no data about your visit is sent to Google.
How we use your information
We use the information you send us to:
- Respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote
- Carry out work you engage us for, and communicate with you about it
- Keep records of jobs quoted and completed
- Meet our tax, insurance and legal obligations
We use analytics information — where you have consented — only in aggregate, to see which pages people read and where visitors come from. We do not use it to identify you.
We do not sell your personal information, and we never will. We do not add you to a mailing list or send marketing messages because you submitted an enquiry.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it is necessary:
- Service providers who run this website. Cloudflare (hosting and security) and, where configured, our form-delivery provider. These providers process data on our behalf.
- Google, if and only if you accept analytics cookies.
- Suppliers and subcontractors, where a job requires it — for example giving a supplier a delivery address. We share the minimum needed.
- Our accountant, insurer or legal advisers, where required to run the business or handle a claim.
- Anyone we are required to disclose to by law.
Overseas disclosure
Cloudflare and Google are global providers and may store or process data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. By using this site you acknowledge that information handled by these providers may be processed overseas, where privacy protections may differ from those in Australia.
How long we keep it

Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
- Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it for tax, warranty or legal reasons
- Withdraw consent for analytics — see the cookie section below
Email yourvisioncarpentryau@gmail.com or call 0412 508 709. We will respond within a reasonable time, normally 30 days. There is no charge for making a request.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no cookies at all unless you accept them. Analytics is off by default, and declining costs you nothing — every part of the site works the same either way.
You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link, which is also in the footer of every page. Full detail is in our cookie policy.
Keeping it secure
This site is served over HTTPS, so information you send through it is encrypted in transit. Enquiries are held in email and business records protected by passwords and device security.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted over the internet. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and, where required, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Children
This website is aimed at people arranging carpentry work and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at yourvisioncarpentryau@gmail.com — most issues are quickest to fix directly.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be made clear rather than slipped in quietly.
